Charnwood Island III

The big brother to the Island II, and the largest heater in the Charnwood range, the Island III is a large wood heater designed to perform. British made from the Isle of Wight, the Island III is built with two heavy-set cast-iron doors, a 10mm thick steel cooktop and stunning radiant steel sides.

With a heating capacity of 180m², the Island III is a fantastic medium sized wood heater. The beautiful heat emanates from the heater through three main places. The radiant sides of the Island III help the heat expand into the room, ensuring you get even heat throughout the room, not just directly in front of the heater. The two cast-iron doors with their large viewing glass house the flames, and the cool-to-touch handle also acts as a lock, with a thick rope seal preventing any air from slipping through the crack. Heat also passes through the 10mm steel cooktop, allowing you to boil a kettle or simmer a pot on top of your fire.

Inside the firebox is where the magic of the Island III truly shines. The riddle grate is made of sixteen cast iron fingers, and sits at the bottom of the firebox, allowing you to release the built up ash in your firebox into the ash pans below. These ash pans are easy to remove and make cleaning your wood heater an absolute breeze. Below the firebox is a simple notched, cool-to-touch air control which allows you complete control over the intensity of your fire. Back up to the top of the unit, the Island III has the option for top or rear flue, giving you more control over how your unit looks, is installed and how much space is available on the cooktop.

A great way to improve your Island III’s performance is to replace your traditional air-cooled flue kit with Pivot’s Insulated Room Sealed Flue Kit, which helps keep the heat your heater produces in the room, as opposed to losing up into the ceiling. Combine this with an Outside Air Intake, a tube which connects the back of your Island III to the outside of your house, which allows fresh air to enter your heater, for a fantastic airtight system for keeping your fire alive and your home warm.
